I was part of the team that worked on this promo for NTV’s Sports Extra, we combed through the news “highlights” and found some of the most “filmic” and “home town” moments we could find.

The promotion manager Anita Wragge had the idea to make a promo campaign that “showed” we were covering all the small town sports on Sports Extra rather than just “saying” it. We wanted to use shots from the actual footage used on the show. So we went through hours of archive tapes and assembled some of the best…
All the work of the photographers and hours reviewing footage, paid off as our department was honored with and Alpha Award from ABC!
Every year ABC recognizes the best work in it’s affiliate promotion departments, and this year (2011) we won the top prize in the “Sports” category.
We were by far the smallest market to be selected as a top winner. So it brings up a special bit of “small” town pride that we were able to keep up with and be recognized out of every ABC affiliate in the nation:)
On a side note…it was of almost as much of an honor for me that the editors of the award show also selected shots of our Super Bowl promos to intro the “stations choice” category:)
